Anthony Grant — Ultra & Mountain Runner

Anthony is a mountain endurance athlete known for chasing long, remote adventures that push both physical and mental boundaries. Based in the Southern Lakes of New Zealand, he’s most at home deep in the backcountry, moving fast and light across technical terrain. For Anthony, running is equal parts solitude, problem-solving, and exploration—an ongoing pursuit of what’s possible in the mountains.

His proudest achievement to date is a self-supported 8-peaks 100-mile ultra from Queenstown to Wānaka: a 170km route linking eight iconic summits with nearly 9000m of vertical gain. Completed solo and without external support, the project showcased the durability, planning, and mountain skill set that define Anthony’s approach to ultra-distance running.

Looking ahead, Anthony is focused on pushing even further into the world of multi-day and extreme endurance events. His long-term goals include the MOAB 240, the Swiss Alps 360km, and completing the full series of Racing the Planet multi-stage desert ultras across the world’s major deserts—each an opportunity to test himself on the biggest landscapes the sport has to offer.

Operating on raw adventure, endurance, and natural fueling, Anthony continues to expand his limits and redefine what’s possible in ultra-distance mountain running.
